Last night my sweet husband took me to the opera. La Boheme was a truly romantic love story. Even though it was in Italian… I still got it!!! The bonus was the musical score was preformed by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra !
We have returned home from our trip to Ecuador. Days were spent working with the Ecuadorian children and evenings were spent getting much needed rest. As tourist we visited a beautiful waterfall. My children convinced me to hike the entire 1 kilometer trail to the top of the waterfall. It was exhausting but worth it! On Thursday the clouds cleared and from camp we were able to see the volcano puffing smoke. At our last meal at camp, the kitchen surprised us with roasted guinea pig! I did try a small bite… can you believe it! I think i was stick to roasted chicken…..
We have arrived safely in Ecuador. The flight was long and very eventful! I was assigned a seat with the Mookster and lance. Oh my!!!! It was a circus the entire 5 hour and 40 minute flight. Tomorrow we will do some site seeing in the morning then travel by bus to Camp Chacauco in Patate, Ecuador.
In just a few hours 17 adults and youth will be leaving the Z headed for Ecuador. Today has been a busy day. Trying to pack the Mookster has been a huge task. I am not sure why he thinks this trip will include a fashion show! The Whit has packed all her belongings into one back pack. Hopefully I will have time to finish my packing.
On July 24th the new Chick fil A will be giving away $26,000 in free food coupons. That’s alot of chicken!!!

Yesterday was Youth Sunday at the Z. The service was lead by our incredible youth. The music was beautiful and contemporary, the prayers to the point and the sermon delivered with perfection. We also observed the lance’s 5th anniversary at MZBC As a part of “Honoring lance” a list of the top 10 reasons lance is an awesome youth pastor was presented to the congregation. The list was eloquent and represented the spiritual side of our beloved lance.
I would like to give a different perspective with my top 10 reasons lance is an awesome Youth Pastor.
10. He has perfected the art of can collecting and crushing.
9. Master deer slayer with firearm and auto.
8. His favorite choice on the Sunday Buffet is carrots.
7. He always chooses the perfect restaurant while at the beach.
6. Self proclaimed King of the blog-o-sphere.
5. His ability of decorate his patio with an empty saltwater aquarium.
4. “the keg of love”
3. His “great hair”
2. He already thinks he is awesome .
1. He is always fighting Piniglarism!
What are your top reasons lance is an awesome youth pastor?
I think I will rent this motor home the next time we take a family vacation!

Last year I attended a Chris Tomlin concert with my groupie friend, Christi. Of course Louie Giglio was the speaker. Louie always has the ability to make the ordinary extraordinary.
The key to his talk was Laminin.
Laminin is found in every thing living. It holds our cells together… without it… we would be a big blob. So I researched this amazing part of our existence. I am not a doctor.. but this molecular form of laminin is very familiar…

PS…. lance..its never too late
Last night the Mookster proudly modeled his tux for prom. I sat and watch as he was carefully adjusted his tie and shirt for the perfect look. Memories began to race through my mind of my first Prom. Let me take you down memory lane…….
The year was 1978. I was a 10th grader with no hopes of attending prom. My closest friends had all be asked. As a good friend should do, I help help them make decisions on dresses, hair styles and breakfast attire.. (Back in the old days breakfast was served after prom. ) Two weeks before the coveted event, I was “hanging out” at the Krystal on Vineville. (The teenage hangout during my formative years!) As I was sitting on the curb, a red VW Bug pulled into the parking lot. The Bug pulled into the parking place next to my curb hangout. The door opened and he appeared. My heart began to race. The handsome young man walked toward my curb. Unfortunately he was not there to talk to me. He politely asked my friend if she had a date to prom. She responded while looking my direction, ‘Yes, but she doesn’t.” He turned to me and posed the same question to me. Of course I responded….”yes, I would love to go.” I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO THE PROM…. Then the second question ….. “What is your name?” After he learned my name, we began to talk and are still talking today!!!

The First Date
Prom 1978
Today I returned home from a long day at work and went straight yard work. WOW….I read recently that researchers have found that yard work relieves stress, decreases anxiety and increases energy levels. Well….. I beg to differ with this research. My stress level was over the top because my Snapper Rider apparently needs a tune up. I became increasingly anxious over the increasing weed population in my yard. Energy levels… ha… I was total exhausted after 4 hours of hard work. So much for research.

“To All Monroe County Schools Employees,
Email access has been restored. We apologize for the inconvenience!
Monroe County Schools Technology Department”
The above message is the greeting on our login page for email accounts. I cannot believe how out of touch I have felt not having email for TWO days!. Yesterday was just a total technology disaster. My cell phone was left at home by mistake. No email, No cell phone!! I was lost. What did I do before there was all this technology?
Tonight was our Maundy Thursday worship service at the Z.
As I was leaving the service, a feeling of sadness came over me. My heart felt heavy. I am once again reminded of the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus died on the cross for my sins.

With 2008 came some financial goals. One was to eliminate the house keeping fee we were paying biweekly. I must admit it has been many years since I have been solely responsible for the cleanliness of our home. So, if you come to visit…beware of the dust bunnies.
The Big Chic across from the new mall has opened. We decided to try it out. As you know, our family frequents eating establishments with menus located on the wall. This fast food critic was very disappointed. The atmosphere was greaseless. Rolls of paper towels were missing from each table. NO hot sauce or pepper sauce on the tables. I give this restraunt a thumbs down! For true Big Chic cuisine I will remain loyal to the Forsyth location.
The 25th Aniversary edition of Michael Jackson’s Thriller Album has been released. Moon walking, white socks and a glove….. those were the days.
The “original” Pig N a Pit burned to the ground yesterday.
A sad day for pork lovers everywhere.
Beware of the old chicks……….They are tougher than they look!

Mr. Bill and I went on a date last night. We did the usual….shopped a little, cruised Macon and had adult conversation. Soon the debate began about where we would eat dinner. The vote was unanimous…..our favorite restaurant…. Waffle House. The atmosphere, cuisine and service is to die for…… After our heart healthy omelet and hashbrowns, a waitress announced, “Who wants to hear the Waffle House song?” You know me… I was the only customer to say YES!

Today I took 127 little darlings on our third field trip. We enjoyed a Planetarium exhibit featuring the stars over our beautiful city. Next we walked the nature trail which is a path around a drainage ditch. Our Final stop was the most exciting event. We visited the Mini Zoo and Live Animal show. We were able to see the twin monkeys born in early January. Did you know monkeys carry their young on their backs until they are old enough to survive on their own. I am so glad this is not a human characteristic. Mookie is way to big for me to carry! After a picnic lunch we returned to HES. It was a great day. Only 97 days left!
